Paterson Ewen wrote very little about his life or his work. Instead, he preferred to let his art speak for itself. Ewen was an avid reader, and his interests in art, literature, weather, and celestial phenomena are clearly visible in his paintings. Canada’s representative at the Venice Biennale, he was a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Art, and a recipient of the Jean A. Chalmers Award. Paterson Ewen was born in in Montreal, Quebec.
