Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 March Verified Purchase. A beautiful story of a girl who has grown out of her favourite boots and goes to great lengths to stretch them. I heard this story a few years ago and liked it so much to read to preschool children that I just had to find my own copy /5(28). Big Sarah’s Little Boots is a nice book helping explain to children that it’s okay to move on to something new; you might like it just as much (if not more) than what you had before. The majority of the story, however, is dedicated to Sarah trying, so very hard, to cling to her beloved old boots – just like any kid would do when presented. She doesn't want new boots, but finally comes around when she adopts Mom's dictum (""Boots don't shrink, feet grow"") and discovers that she's now big enough to jump over puddles. This slice of life makes an attractive book; Clark's bright illustrations of the assertive little girl and her patient mother are especially appealing.
